FONTEVRAUD ABBEY<\/b>:<\/p>\n

It is an imperative place to visit, plan a big half-day.<\/p>\n

Established at the beginning of the 12th century, it is the vastest monastic city of Europe. Necropolis of the Plantagen\u00eats dynasty, it shelters the recumbent effigies of Alienor d’ Aquitaine and Richard Coeur de Lion. Then it was used as a prison during Napol\u00e9on time, and closed in 1963. The Abbey was reopened to the public in 1985.<\/p>\n
